The aim of this blog will be to look at the role of the middle manager in education, with its five-year mission to boldly go where no blog has gone before.
The middle leader in education, as in most organisations where he/she exists is the sandwich filling between the slices of bread. In education, the slices of bread are usually played by Senior Leaders and Teachers Being a middle leader in education can be a delicious experience for all or one that leaves a bad taste in the collective mouths of all involved.
In the sandwich analogy, the filling reflects the roles ( very tempting for a bread-based joke there ) that the middle leader has to do. The roles like a filling can be overwhelming and it requires create skill to make sure that one part of the filling does not overpower another. Over this series of blogs I will reflect on middle leaders in education and whether there is a recipe for a successful middle leader filling although I am not sure if the sandwich analogy will remain fresh, it already seems a bit stale.
The Middle Leader will seek to look into the world of developing middle leaders in education over a series of blogs. There will be anecdotes, research and hopefully some insight all to be enjoyed with a quality sandwich
The next post: Middle Leader or Middle Manager That is the Question?
